What level of fitness is required?
Basic physical fitness suffices. For tasks requiring breathing apparatus, a medical checkup is done and regularly renewed. -
Is firefighting a male-dominated field?
Not at all. Fire departments have long welcomed female firefighters and value their contributions. -
Do I get paid for volunteering?
This is an unpaid position. Employers are compensated for lost wages during deployments or training. Some positions receive a small allowance.
Volunteer Fire Department Heilbronn
The Volunteer Fire Department Heilbronn is an indispensable support for the professional fire department. During large-scale events, it is regularly called upon to either assist on-site or to staff the main fire station for additional emergencies. Currently, around 300 volunteer members serve across nine divisions in various districts. The central division is located at the main fire station.
